Intercare Classic Road Race 2025: A celebration of health, community, and giving back. | 2 min read

Pretoria, South Africa – The Intercare Classic Road Race 2025 brought together thousands of runners, fitness enthusiasts, and supporters on 1 February 2025, reaffirming its status as a premier event on the Gauteng road running calendar. Hosted at the Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre in partnership with Magnolia Road Runners, the race once again combined athletic excellence with a strong sense of community spirit.

Building on the momentum of the previous year’s success, the 2025 edition saw an impressive turnout of over 4300 participants across multiple race categories. From competitive long-distance runners to families enjoying the 5km fun run, the event showcased the power of sport to inspire healthier lifestyles.  The Athletics Gauteng North (AGN)-registered 10km and 21.1km single-lap races challenged seasoned runners, offering a scenic route through the neighbourhood of Pierre van Ryneveld.

The highlight of the day was R 40 000 presented to the CHOC Foundation from athletes and other contributions, supporting children battling cancer. This generous donation, along with the efforts of participating athletes, helped make a real difference in the lives of young warriors fighting this disease.

Dr Hendrik Hanekom, Chief Executive of Intercare Group, noted; “The Intercare Classic Road Race is more than just a sporting event—it is a testament to the power of community, wellness, and giving back. Seeing thousands of runners come together to support a healthier lifestyle and a worthy cause is truly inspiring. We are proud to play a role in fostering an event that encourages fitness while making a difference in the lives of those in need.”

Participants benefited from a well-organised race day experience, including professional timekeeping, multiple hydration stations, ample secure parking, and dedicated medical support, ensuring both safety and enjoyment.

The Intercare Classic Road Race continues to grow as a platform for promoting wellness, camaraderie, and charitable giving. As anticipation builds for the next edition, the organisers remain committed to fostering an event that is not just about running, but about bringing communities together for a shared purpose.

Intercare Group and Magnolia Road Runners extend their heartfelt gratitude to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, supporter, and the surrounding community for their contribution to making this event a success. Your dedication and enthusiasm are what make the Intercare Classic Road Race such a special occasion. We appreciate your support and look forward to hosting the race again next year!
