Sexually transmitted disease affecting the reproductive and urinary organs
Symptoms may include abdominal pain, painful urination, genital itching and irritation with possible foul-smelling discharge
Spread by sexual contact with infected person
Can also be spread from mother to infant during childbirth
Affects males and females but more common in females
Can occur at any age
May be mild without symptoms to severe
