  • Abnormal uterine bleeding that affects the reproductive system
  • Symptoms may include bleeding between regular menstrual cycles or bleeding that may be excessive and/or last longer in the number of days

  • May be associated with infertility or other conditions such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or ovarian cysts
  • Cannot be spread from person to person

  • Can occur at any age following the start of the first menstrual cycle
  • May be mild to severe

FOR ANEMIA

  • Increase amount of iron in your diet with red meat, shellfish, eggs, beans, and green leafy vegetables
  • Over-the-counter medicine (refer to manufacturer’s recommendation for dosage)
    • Ferrous sulfate
    • Multivitamin with iron

 

FOR PAIN

  • Apply hot or cold packs to the area
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Distraction
  • Over-the-counter medicine (refer to manufacturer’s recommendations for dosage):
    • Acetaminophen
    • Ibuprofen
