GENERAL THERAPY
- Adjust schedule to take advantage of your more energetic times
- Try not to overdo it when you are energetic
- Get adequate rest, go to bed when sleepy and get up at same time every day
- Get regular exercise, but not within 2 hours of bedtime
- Take naps early in day if necessary
- Reduce stress
- Over-the-counter medicine (refer to manufacturer’s recommendations for dosage):
- Acetaminophen
- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
- Antihistamines
- Decongestants
Treatment for hypotension:
- Fludrocortisone acetate
- Atenolol
- Midodrine hydrochloride
Treatments for nervous system:
- Clonazepam
- Lorazepam
- Alprazolam
ALTERNATIVE THERAPY
- Acupuncture
- Massage therapy
- Yoga
PRECAUTIONS AND AVOIDANCES
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco before bedtime
- Keep bedroom at comfortable temperature
- Avoid heavy meals in the evening
- Graded exercises which starts out easy and progresses gradually are best
SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IF:
- You have severe fatigue that last longer than 2 weeks, that limits your activities or does not improve with rest
- Sleep problems that last longer than 1 or 2 months
- You feel like you are depressed
- Severe fatigue along with frequent urination, extreme thirst, weight loss, blurred vision
