Collection of pus on the ovary and fallopian tube
Symptoms may include abdominal pain, pelvic pain, fever, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite
Usually caused by a bacterial infection
Cannot be spread from person to person
Can occur at any age but most common in teens or young adult females
May be mild to severe
Treatments
Avoid sexual intercourse
FOR FEVER
Apply cool cloth to forehead or armpits
Drink plenty of fluids (especially water)
Avoid alcohol, tea and coffee as these drinks can cause slight dehydration
