  • Symptoms may include weakness and numbness of the arms and legs, vision loss and fatigue with progressing physical disability
  • Cause unknown but may be a combination of environmental and hereditary factors
  • Cannot be spread from person to person
  • Affects males and females but more common in females
  • Can occur at any age but more common in young adults to middle age
  • May be mild to severe
  • Life threatening complications

FOR LONG TERM TREATMENT

  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Exercise regularly
  • Avoid extreme heat such as hot tubs, saunas and very warm showers
  • Use an air conditioner in hot temperatures
  • Maintain good sleep habits to combat fatigue
