Chicken pox

  • Viral infection that may affect the entire body
  • Symptoms may include a fever and rash that is itchy with small blister-like spots on the skin
  • Commonly spread by breathing in infected droplets from the air or by contact with the rash before the spots crust over
  • Affects males and females
  • Can occur at any age but more common in children
  • May be mild to severe
  • May be life threatening if complications occur

Calamine lotion

FOR FEVER

Apply cool cloth to forehead or armpits

Drink plenty of fluids (especially water)

Avoid alcohol, tea and coffee as these drinks can cause slight dehydration

Acetaminophen

Ibuprofen

Aspirin (Do not give to children or adolescents)
