  • Affects the joints of the neck
  • Symptoms may include neck stiffness and neck pain spreading to the arms and hands
  • Cause commonly due to osteoarthritis but can occur from an injury
  • Cannot be spread from person to person
  • Affects males and females
  • Can occur at any age but more common in older adults with males more commonly affected at an earlier age
  • May be mild with no symptoms to severe leading to paralysis
